The Inauguration ceremony of the TETFUND sponsored Auditorium in Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma was performed by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, H.R.H. Prof. Gregory I. Akenzua, OON on Thursday, 28th July, 2016.

In his speech on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. I.A. Onimawo commended the effort of the out-gone Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Mrs.) C.A. Agbebaku and her commitment towards the completion of the Auditorium, sponsored by TETFUND. According to him, “the Auditorium has added to the beauty/face lift of the University”. He further said that the era of junk buildings in the University was over. He also appreciated the efforts of members of the Governing Council (especially Prof. Emeritus T.O.K. Audu and Dr. Godswill Ogboghodo) for their selfless sacrifices that ensured the completion of the building. He then directed the Works and Services Department to ensure constant maintenance of the building to enable the edifice to be used for the purpose it is meant for.

In his remarks, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, H.R.H., Prof. Gregory I. Akenzua said that he was so delighted to be part of the epoch making ceremony of the inauguration of the gigantic edifice. He was particularly delighted with the diligence exhibited by members of the Governing Council which resulted in the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. I.A. Onimawo. He also commended the resilience of the past Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Mrs.) C.A. Agbebaku towards the speedy completion of the Building with the 2011/2012 TETFUND intervention and hoped that the outstanding 4 years arrears of TETFUND intervention (that is 2012/2013, 2013/2014, 2014/2015 and 2015/2016) would be assessed for meaningful projects in the University. He, thereafter, called for the return of the NDDC to site for the continuation of the students Hostels that was started years ago.

It is worthy of note that the first ceremony which took place in the new Auditorium was the 53rd Inaugural Lecture delivered by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. I.A. Onimawo, on the same day of the inauguration ceremony.

The high points of the event was the cutting of the tape and unveiling of the plaque to declare the building open for use by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council ably supported by other members of the Governing Council and the University Management.

The short but impressive ceremony was attended by a good number of members of the Governing Council, Principal Officers, Staff and Students of the University.
