Training Workshop Organized by the Information Training and Outreach Centre for Africa Holds in AAU, Ekpoma

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. I.A. Onimawo on Tuesday, 7th June, 2016 declared open the Workshop of Training the Trainers organized by Information Training and Outreach Centre for Africa (ITOCA) based in South Africa. This is in fulfillment of the desire to promote and enrich academic research in this University.

Welcoming the Facilitators and other participants, the Vice-Chancellor requested them to take the training workshop seriously as they were expected to share the experience acquired with others in their various Departments and Faculties which is the essence of the training. He was very impressed with the turnout of participants which indicated their zeal and preparedness for the training workshop. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized the need for intensive research in every citadel of learning as it broadens the horizon of Resource Persons as well as place the University in better ranking among the comity of Universities. He challenged the staff of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) of the University on the need to ensure the workability of the University’s Web site before the end of the month of June, 2016. He assured that things would not remain as usual as his dream for the University was to make it one of the best 10 Universities in the country. “It will give us the type of acceptance we needed now”, he concluded.

He further appealed to participants to up-load their Curriculum Vitae on the University’s Web site for ease of contact; as well as asked them to see the training as different from others.

On the general outlook of the Library, he assured that it would be equipped to compete favourably with Libraries in other Universities.

Earlier, the facilitator of the Training Workshop, Prof. Dele Fawole, reminded the participants that the knowledge that would be acquired during the training workshop should be extended to others to fulfill the mission, “Train the Trainer”.

High point of the ceremony was the declaration of the Training Workshop open by the Vice-Chancellor.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Jude Agho at the instance of the Vice-Chancellor said the vote of thanks as well as prayed with the cola nuts presented.

With the Vice-Chancellor to declare the Workshop open were the Management Team and other senior staff of the University.
