The Department offers a full-time Bachelors degree Programme in Public Administration (BPA)  which is designed to turn out high-level manpower and equip them with the necessary aptitude  and skills to enable him serve as top-level personnel or as professional practitioner.

 

OBJECTIVE


The objectives of the BPA programme are to:
i)  Provide high-level manpower with both academic and professional skills to serve in any  capacity in the country as professionals;
ii)  Provide practical exercise which will enable the students to integrate and apply the knowledge to the solution of problems facing administrators.
iii)  Provide a broad education background into the disciplines essentials to government;    .
iv)  Provide opportunities and experiences that will enable the students to become creative and versatile persons who will be capable of functioning as productive members of their profession and society.
v)  Provide the experience that will enable the students to develop satisfactory qualification that can enable them gain entrance into higher degree programmes; and
vi)  Further strength the students' ability to analyse and interpret empirically and effectively deal with societal problems.

 

DURATION OF COURSE


The full-time programme is designed to last a minimum of four years for UME candidates and three years for direct entry candidates.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 

 

Direct Entry Requirements

a)  In addition to the UME requirements Direct Entry candidates are expected to possess two passes in General Certificate Education (Advanced level) or its equivalent.

OR

b)  A Diploma Certificate of Ambrose Alli University or any other recognized university in Public Administration, social Works, Psychology, Mass Communication, Criminology, Law, International Relation, Business and Accountancy, or related subjects at Merit pass or its equivalent.

Admission Requirements for BPA (PT)

c)  The admission requirements for BPA(PT) is the same as that of the BPA(FT). However, there is a one year differential in the expected time of graduation.

 UME Entry Requirements

d)  Candidates for admission into four-year degree programme in Public Administration should possess a senior secondary school certificate or General Certificate of education or thee equivalents, with at least five credit passes which include English Language and Government/History, Economics or commerce and two other subjects.


In addition, candidates must have acceptable passes in the following UME Subjects; English Language, Government or History, Economics or Commerce and any other subject.
