The Council of the Mycological Society of Nigeria has deliberated upon the on-going turmoil in the Nigerian intellectual space. The President of the Society has caused a statement to be released to this effect:

The local organizing committee, LOC, on behalf of the Council of the Mycological Society of Nigeria regrets to announce that its Annual Conference scheduled for 25th-28th October, 2009 at Ekpoma, Edo State of Nigeria has been postponed indefinitely. This is due to the current face-off between the Nigerian Government on the one hand, and the industrial unions in the academic/research institutions on the other, which has seriously affected activities of the Nigerian intellectual vocation. Subsequent details will be communicated in due course.

The LOC particularly regrets the inconveniences that this decision may have caused you. You will be duly informed when a new date is fixed.
