The Administrative/Executive Welfare Association of the University held a send-forth party for the out-going Registrar, Mr. G.T. Olawole, JP and other retirees of the Registry as well as formally received the incumbent Registrar, Mr. L.I. Edokpayi, KSM,JP FCAI on Saturday, 19th April, 2008. The ceremony which was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D.O. Aigbomian, KSC, JP was very colourful and well attended by members of the Association and other invited dignitaries.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Mr. A.E. Ogbejiele said that the spirit behind the ceremony was to cater for the welfare and promote harmonious relationship amongst members and show of love to the retirees and the incumbent Registrar. He announced that any retired member of the Association irrespective of the position/status in the University would be honoured with a befitting send-forth party to be organized at least once in a year by the Association. He further solicited for the co-operation to enable members for the Association to be fully stabilized. Delivering his lecture titled “Life after retirement”, the Guest Lecturer, Mr. J.U. Otokunrin, Assistant General Manager, Administration, Bendel Feed and Flour Mill, Ewu admonished members of the Association to see retirement as a blessing from God which should be embraced with joy. He however, advised that we should start planning while in service the type of life to live after retirement. He concluded that we should be honest and dedicated to our duties if we must reap the dividend of retirement. In his message, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D.O. Aigbomian, KSM, JP thanked the organizers of the ceremony for a job well done. He commended members of the Association for their initiative and magnanimity. He assured the Registry of his ever-ready assistance in times of need and advised members of the Association to be above board and do their duties conscientiously. He further advised on the need for such ceremonies in future to accommodate members and their spouses in order to make the ceremony more colourful. The highpoints of the occasion were: 1. Reading of citations of the retirees and the incumbent Registrar. 2. Response made by Mr. G.T. Olawole, JP on behalf of the retirees. 3. Presentation of souvenirs to the retirees and the incumbent Registrar. 4. Speeches by individuals
