The Pro-Chancellor Pays Courtesy Call On The Immediate-Past Chancellor Of The University In Minna PDF Print E-mail
The Pro-Chancellor, Ambassador Abdul-Aziz Garuba, Mogaji Auchi in company of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D.O. Aigbomian, KSM, JP and other Principal officers of the University paid  a courtesy call on the immediate past Chancellor of the University, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji  (Dr.) Umaru Faraq Bahago, the Emir of Minna in Minna on Monday, 21st April, 2008. 

Addressing His Royal Majesty, the Pro-Chancellor informed him that he was in his Palace to thank him for his past services to the University in his capacity as the Chancellor of the University for the past 18 years.  He also used the opportunity to inform His Royal Majesty of the desire of the State Government to disengage his service having meritoriously served this University as its Chancellor for the past 18 years.  He therefore conveyed the goodwill of the State Government to His Royal Majesty as well as enjoined him to always be available for the University whenever the need arose.

Speaking in the same vein, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D.O. Aigbomian reiterated the very pleasant moments the University had with His Royal Majesty all the time he visited the University especially during the convocation ceremonies and assured him that the University would continue to remember with relish the friendly relationship, warm and humble disposition of His Royal Majesty as well as all the royalties and glamour his presence added to our past convocation ceremonies.   He wished His Royal Majesty long and peaceful reign on the throne.
Responding, His Royal Majesty thanked the State Government and the University through the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council for the opportunity given him to serve the University as its Chancellor for the past 18 years.  He admitted that during the 18 years  he was  the Chancellor he never had any cause to regret his appointment and promised to make his palace and domain open at all times to the University adding that the University should feel free always  to call upon him whenever the need arises.

The Registrar, L.I. Edokpayi, KSM, JP gave the vote of thanks.  He called to remembrance the good times the University had with His Royal Majesty as its Chancellor and prayed for long life and God’s abundant blessings for His Royal Majesty.

It will be recalled that His Royal Majesty, Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Faraq Bahago served the University as its Chancellor for 18 years.  He is being replaced by Chief (Dr.) Sonny I. Odogwu, CFR, Ide Ahaba who has been so appointed by the State Government.
