Courtesy Call on the Vice-Chancellor by Officials of AGPMPN PDF Print E-mail

Officials of Association of General and Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria (AGPMPN), Edo State led by its Chairman, Dr. M. Edena (DMP) paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D.O. Aigbomian, KSM, JP on Tuesday, 29th January, 2008.


The Chairman of the Association in Edo State informed the Vice-Chancellor that they were in the University to pay him a courtesy call as they prepare for the 2008 Annual General Conference of the Association fixed for the 12th through 16th of March, 2008.    He recalled that since the inauguration of the Association in 1921, this was the first time the Edo State Branch would be privileged to host the Conference and that it therefore became necessary for the Association to solicit the support and assistance of corporate organizations and individuals toward the successful hosting of the Conference.  He informed the Vice-Chancellor that the theme of the Conference is “Towards Achieving the Millennium Development Goals: The Role of Private Medical Practitioners” and that over 1000 medical practitioners would be in attendance.  

Other details of the Conference according to Dr. Edena are as follows:

Venue: Oba Akenzua Cultural Centre, Airport Road.

Dr. Edena stated further that the Conference would provide an opportunity to show case Edo State and therefore specifically invited the Vice-Chancellor to be present at the Opening Ceremony of the Conference and at the Dinner Party to round off the Conference on the 13th and 15th of March, 2008 respectively.    He commended the Vice-Chancellor for the progress being witnessed in the University under his administration and was happy that the Faculty of Law of the University has continued to excel progressively.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor thanked the team for the visit.  He was particularly delighted that the Edo State Branch and the present officials of the Association were being privileged to host the Annual General Conference of the Association for the first time since the Association was inaugurated in 1921.   He stressed on the need to regulate the activities of the medical practitioners towards quality service delivery.

He thanked Dr. Edena for his complimentary remarks about his administration and the University and promised to sustain the present level of excellence in the University in all its ramifications.

Finally, he pledged his willingness to identify with the Association and promised that he would be present at the opening ceremony of the Conference on the 13th of March, 2008.
