Vice-Chancellor’s New Year Message PDF Print E-mail
I appreciate God for giving us the opportunity to be alive to witness the dawn of the New Year, 2008.  365 days of the year 2007 have thus rolled by to usher in the New Year.

I recall that in my 2007 New Year message to all staff, I enjoined everyone to rededicate himself/herself to the service of the University with a view to recording achievements in the University.  I am happy to say with all sense of pride and fulfillment that my call and appeal were heeded by members of the University community, and, hence, we were able to record monumental achievements during the year under review.  The collective efforts of all of you are therefore, commendable and appreciated.

As we enter another year, there is no doubt, that, there is still much to be achieved.  To be able to tackle the tasks ahead of us in the New Year, with ease, we should be more determined and resolute in the discharge of our various assignments.  Our watch word should be best practices driven by zeal, enthusiasm and deep commitment. Lofty goals and heights we must set for ourselves and same we must strive to attain.

As for the students, they must all strive to keep the peace on campus intact through responsible conduct.  They must also obey the rules and regulations of the University willingly.  Their focus should be responsible student unionism.

I must not fail to specially express my deep appreciation to the various leaderships and members of the labour and students union on campus.  They are the motivating factors behind the peace and achievements recorded so far in this University.   The co-operation the University Management received from them in the year 2007 is inestimable.  It is my confidence, that, in the New Year 2008, they will remain valuable and reliable partners of the University Management for the overall good of this University.

I wish to appreciate the various organs of the University, (Council, Senate, etc.) for the immense support they gave to this administration in the year 2007.   They have been wonderful.  I look forward to more of such support in the year ahead in order for the University to continue to grow from strength to strength.

On the part of the University Management, we will continue to provide a conductive atmosphere for the attainment of set goals by staff as well as for teaching and learning.  Hardwork and excellence will be adequately rewarded and staff development given prime attention as a way of encouraging staff to grow on the job and keep abreast of current trends in their respective disciplines and vocations.

As we do this, it is my prayer that the Almighty God will reward you all abundantly with His riches and blessings.

I wish you a prosperous, fruitful and achievement-filled 2008.
