Hopeshare Foundation, U.S.A. Donates Books To The University PDF Print E-mail
A team from Hopeshare Foundation, Atlanta, U.S.A. led by its President, Dr. Louis Ebhodghe was in Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma on Thursday, 23rd August, 2007 to make book donations to the University.

Disclosing their mission, the President, Dr. Louis Ebhodaghe said that they were in Edo State and Esan West Local Government Area in particular to render their yearly free medical services to t he community.  He added that in addition to the free medical services rendered to the community, they felt deeply concerned with the deplorable state in our schools hence, they decided to render assistance anywhere possible.

In the actualization of their dreams, the Esan Foundation under the auspices of the Hopeshare Foundation in Atlanta, U.S.A. deemed it fit to donate some medical books and journals to Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, adding that the books donated will assist in the area of boosting the level of education in the community and also help to change the status quo.  He was optimistic that the books will also bring about the needed empowerment of people by effecting a change in a child to a refined state.  He promised that the Foundation would do more in donating books relating to medicine and other areas of need.

In his response, the vice-Chancellor, Prof. D.O. Aigbomian, KSM, JP formally welcomed the President and his team to Nigeria and the University in particular.  He was particularly happy to note that there were still some people who left the country but still remember those they left behind; such as the Hopeshare Foundation under the leadership of Dr. Louis Ebhodaghe.

He informed the team that since the establishment of the University in 1981, there have been some teething problems in the area of finance.  He was however grateful to the State Government for sustaining the University within its limited financial resources which in turn the University Authority had prudently managed in order to keep the system afloat.

He thanked the Foundation for their assistance so far to the University and hoped that the relationship would be sustained.  He then requested the team for assistance in areas of linkage programme between the University and other well-meaning organizations in Atlanta, U.S.A.

The Vice-Chancellor informed the team of the successful graduation of the 1st set of Medical Doctors of this University which he attributed to the initial medical book donation by Hopeshare Foundation in 2001. The highpoints of the visit were the presentation of 738 medical books, 700 medical journals and some cassettes to the Vice-Chancellor and the announcement of 50 scholarship awards to indigent Esan students in this University.

The President, Dr, Louis Ebhodaghe promised to link the University with some organizations in Atlanta, U.S.A.
The Vice-Chancellor as well as the Deputy University Librarian gave assurances that the books/journals would be put into good use.

Present at the ceremony were the Vice-Chancellor and the Principal Officers of the University and the President of Hopeshare Foundation and his team.
