Ambrose Alli University Post Office Commissioned PDF Print E-mail
The Ambrose Alli University Post Office was officially commissioned on Wednesday, 12th    September, 20097 by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D.O. Aigbomian, KSM, JP.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor thanked the Area Postal Manager, Mr. Y.B.K. Wambai and his team for gracing the occasion with their physical presence.  He defined Postal System as “The Institution almost invariably under the control of a government agency that makes it possible for any person to send a letter, packet   or parcel to any addressee in the same country or abroad, in the expectation that it will be conveyed according to certain established standards of regulatory speed and security”.  He admonished the postal officials to ensure that the basic function of postal organization, which is to covert the individual items as rapidly as possible into something that could be handled on a bulk bases and regains its individual status be religiously maintained.
He described the Post Office being commissioned as an existing structure which had been rehabilitated and refurnished to meet the requirement of a Post Office.

While appealing to staff and students to patronize the Post Office regularly, he thanked the officials of the Nigerian Postal Services, Benin city for granting formal approval for the establishment of a Post Office in the University and promised that the University Authority would do its best to put the Post Office to optimum use.

The Area Postal Manager, Edo Territory, Mr. Yahaya Balak K. Wambai in his address thanked the University Authority on behalf of the Post Master General/Chief executive Officer of the Federation for the generous donation of a portion of a building in the University Campus for Postal Services.

He said that NIPOST, Edo territory had introduced two additional services (Mobile Post Office Service and Bulk Posting of mails) for the delight of the people of the State.  According to him other services rendered outside these two services are:-
-    Agency Service such as Sale and distribution of examination forms, distribution of company shares and application forms like JAMB, WAEC, etc.
-    Sale of MTN, GLO, CELTEL, etc. Scratch Card.
-    Distribution of Company Share Certificates, Dividend, warrants, and Annual General Meeting (AGM), etc.

He concluded by giving assurance that all services being provided by a full-fledged Post Office would be provided in Ambrose Alli University Post Office. The high point of the ceremony was the cutting of the tape by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D.O. Aigbomian, KSM, JP to Commission the Post Office.  Thereafter general inspection of the Post Office was conducted by the Vice-Chancellor in company of other dignitaries present at the occasion.

The Deputy Registrar, General Administration and Staff Welfare Division (GASWD), Mr. A.A. Aigbokhai gave the vote of thanks.
Present to witness the Commissioning ceremony were t he Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D.O. Aigbomian, KSM, JP, some Principal Officers of the University, other University Officials and Officials of the NIPOST led by the Area Postal Manager, Edo Territory, Mr. Yahaya Balak K Wambai.
