The University Authority has approved guidelines in respect of the 2007 Inter-Cadre Conversion/Upgrading exercise into non-teaching positions. According to the release signed by the Deputy Registrar (Personnel), Mrs. O.J. Omole, MNIM, to this effect, interested members of staff are advised to submit 20 copies of their applications together with up-to-date Curriculum Vitae, stating applicants current status as well as photocopies of their claimed credentials to the Deputy Registrar (Personnel) on or before 3.30p.m. on Wednesday, 1st August, 2007. The release further stated that: -
1. Interested candidates, who must possess the relevant academic or professional qualification(s) for the position in view, shall be exposed to written and oral examinations. The interview dates will be communicated to them in due course. 2. The conversion/upgrading exercise of staff is not automatic. It is subject to performance at the interviews and available vacancy. 3. For the 2007 exercise, no conversion will be made into levels beyond Administrative Officer for Administrative cadre and Accountant II for the Accountants’ cadre. 4. The candidates seeking conversion to the Typist or Secretary cadres will be required to convincingly pass a practical test. Computer literacy will be an advantage. 5. Where conversion gives a staff a salary personal to him/her, the staff will be required to spend the number of years (i.e. 4 – 5 years) through notional promotion(s) to meet the salary, which he/she was earning before conversion. 6. Only candidates who meet the required cut-off mark in the written interview will proceed to the stage of the oral interviews. 7. In line with the University regulation, administrative and professional staff may be converted to one grade level lower than his present scale. The release further requested interested candidates to note that applications received after 3.30p.m. on Wednesday, 1st August 2007 may not be considered.
